UDHAMPUR :TDD- To aware the students about the
significance of biodiversity and measures to conserve it for
ecological balance and sustainable development, Government College for Women, Udhampur organized a documentary screened on the theme ” Biodiversity Conservation” under the aegis of IQAC in the college
premises.
The event was organised by the Geography Department under the able guidance of the Principal of the college, Prof (Dr). Nalini Pathania and she commended the students for their active participation in the event. The formal welcome address was presented by Prof. Pooja Bharti (HOD Geography)
The documentary showed that Biodiversity on our
planet has been declining at an alarming rate in recent years, mainly rue to human activities, such as land use changes, Habitat loss, overexploitation, Invasive species, Pollution, and climate change. So, by implementing some measures like Preventing deforestation, Preventing poaching and killing of species ,Using resources efficiently, Reducing pollution levels, Developing protected areas carefully , Creating public awareness we can work together to conserve biodiversity

The programme was coordinated by Assistant Professor Pooja Bharti (HOD Geography), Dr. Poonam Bharti ( Lecturer Geography), Divya Sharma( Lecturer Geography), Insha Amin (Lecturer Geography), Aizaj Sadiq Mir (Lecturer) and Balbir Singh ( Lab bearer).
The whole proceedings of the event was carried out by Divya Sharma with the formal vote of thanks.
