Doda,DD, In a major breakthrough against the drug menace, Doda Police apprehended three suspected drug peddlers and recovered approximately 14 grams of heroin from their possession.
According to SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta on the night of March 4, 2025, a police team led by DySP Ajay Anand and SHO Doda, Inspector Parvaiz Khandey, was conducting routine vehicle checking near a petrol pump in Doda. At approximately 9:30 PM, a tempo traveler (registration number JK06-3627) coming from Pul Doda towards Doda City was stopped for inspection.
During the search, the driver and two passengers were identified as:
- Ashfaq Hussain, son of Late Noor Hussain Wani, resident of Bhalla.
- Sayed Shadab, son of Ghulam Hussain Shah, resident of Akramabad Doda.
- Himayoun Sageer, son of Late Fatah Mohammad, resident of Akramabad Doda.
Upon extensive personal search, police recovered approximately 5 grams of heroin from both Sayed Shadab and Himayoun Sageer, while 4 grams of heroin were seized from Ashfaq Hussain. The total recovery amounted to 14 grams of heroin, allegedly intended for illegal sale among the youth in Doda town.
A case under FIR No. 56/2025 has been registered at Police Station Doda under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
This successful operation is part of Doda Police’s ongoing special drive to eliminate drug trafficking, manufacturing, and the sale of narcotic substances in the district. SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta urged the public to support law enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities related to drug peddling.
