Doda, DD, In a significant crackdown on narco-smuggling networks, Doda Police on Sunday attached property valued at ₹45.32 lakh belonging to a notorious drug peddler of the district.
The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house located at Sadiqabad, Doda, which was identified as having been acquired from the proceeds of illicit narcotics trade. The attachment proceedings were carried out by SHO Doda, Inspector Parvaiz Ahmed Khanday, and DySP Headquarters Doda, Ajay Anand, in the presence of the concerned Executive Magistrate First Class under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action is linked to an FIR registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Police Station Doda against Shakeela Begum alias Taya, wife of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Sadiqabad, Doda. She was arrested in the same case as a forward link and main drug supplier, and is currently lodged in Bhaderwah Jail. Police records reveal that the accused has been involved in four separate FIRs related to the illicit trade of narcotic substances.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, while highlighting the action, said:
“Doda Police is fully committed to wiping out the menace of drugs from the district. Our approach is not limited to arrests; we are determined to dismantle the entire ecosystem of drug trafficking by targeting both the perpetrators and their unlawfully acquired wealth. We will continue to take strict legal action against all those involved in this nefarious trade.”
The SSP also appealed to the general public, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs and assist police by sharing information about drug peddlers and their activities, assuring that the identity of informers will be kept confidential.DD
