Jammu :-TDD,The workers of Dogra front &Shiv Sena under the leadership of president Ashok Gupta took out a massive rally in Jammu city demanding restoration of Darbaar move to Jammu.
Gupta said that Resumption of the Darbar Move is essential for reviving the economy of Jammu. The Darbar Move will not only ensure administrative efficiency but also stimulate local businesses and industries.
The Darbar Move is the bi-annual shift of the state secretariat and other government offices from the summer capital Srinagar to the winter capital Jammu. A tradition started during the rule of Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1872, it continued until 2021, when the UT administration said state secretariats would be maintained in both Jammu and Srinagar.
Over 150 years old tradition, the practice of shifting capital to Srinagar in summers and Jammu in winters was introduced by Maharaja Gulab Singh in 1872 and hundreds of carts driven by horses and elephants were employed to move to Kashmir on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. A total of 151 government departments would shift capital twice a year in J&K and hundreds of buses and trucks are employed to accomplish the task. Over 10,000 employees moved with it.
The party president further stated that In the absence of any local tourism, Jammu is mainly dependent on the arrival of people from Kashmir during the winters and the pilgrims coming to the Vaishno Devi shrine. While the former was hit after the end of the Durbar Move, the numbers staying in Jammu have taken a beating after opening of direct train routes to Katra
He further said that after the order, “nearly 60-70% of the Durbar Move” is back, and hoped that the government would extend it to all government employees.
The govt should also fulfil there promise of providing free 200 units of electricity and 12 free LPG cylinders on yearly basis.
The party people who were present at the time of protest were Ashish, Abhishek, Prem, Bantu, Kalu, Vignesh, Vinay, Rampal, Vikky, Suresh and various others were present.TDD
