“Domicile Law More Important Than Budget: Altaf Bukhari Demands Protection of J&K’s Land and Jobs”

Srinagar, (DD): On the foundation day of the Apni Party, its president Altaf Bukhari made a strong case for the introduction of a domicile law in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that protecting land and jobs for locals is far more crucial than any budget allocation.

Addressing a gathering of party workers and supporters, Bukhari declared that his primary concern is ensuring legal safeguards for J&K’s residents, rather than debating budgetary figures.

“The government can pass any budget it wants, but if our land and jobs are not protected, what will remain for our future generations? We need a domicile law that guarantees exclusive rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Bukhari emphasized that the identity, economy, and future of J&K’s youth are at stake, warning that without strong legislative measures, outsiders could dominate employment and land ownership in the Union Territory.

Criticizing past governments for failing to address this concern, he vowed that the Apni Party will continue its fight for the constitutional protection of local rights.

His remarks come amid growing concerns in J&K over land laws and employment opportunities, with several political parties urging the government to bring in exclusive provisions that prevent the dilution of local rights.

With this demand, Bukhari has once again positioned the Apni Party as a strong advocate for J&K’s economic and demographic interests, signaling a renewed political push for legislation that safeguards the region’s resources for its people.(DD)
