R.S. Pura: DD- Border Security Force (BSF), and J&K Police Team claimed to have foiled a major cross border narcotic smuggling bid, with the recovery of more than 5 kg heroin like substance from a village along the International Border.
Acting on the credible inputs, a joint operation was launched by the BSF, and local police early this morning at village Vidhipur Jattan in RS Pura.
The intelligence input was about a possible drone dropping.
“The village, located close to the International Border, was cordoned off, and a massive joint search operation was launched,” said a police officer, speaking to the media.
The police officer said that the joint teams recovered two packets – each at a distance of 100 meters from the village Vidhipur Jattan.
“It was apparently a drop dropping from across the border. However, we have successfully recovered the narcotics consignment i.e., 5 kg and 328 grams of heroin-like substance packed in two packets,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, the security grid has been tightened across the International Border, and patrolling has been increased.DD
