Jammu:DD, Police today claimed to have arrested three persons, including a husband-wife duo, for running a drug network in Jammu’s South Zone.
Police said that in a major breakthrough against narco-terror and drug trafficking, Jammu Police, South Zone, has busted a drug peddling network and arrested three accused persons, recovering a commercial quantity of heroin (280.5 grams) along with electronic weighing machines.
The seizure marks a strong step in the ongoing war against drugs. During checking at a naka at Railway Pulli, Narwal, police said that they intercepted a person, namely Vishal, son of Ajay, resident of Ludhiana, at present Rajeev Nagar, was apprehended.
Upon his search, police said that they recovered 265 grams of heroin (chitta) and one electronic weighing machine were recovered from his possession.
Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two more accused persons, a husband-wife duo identified as Gogi, son of Neep Ram, and Reema, wife of Gogi, both residents of Rajeev Nagar, Narwal in Jammu.
From their possession, police recovered 15 grams of heroin and one more electronic weighing machine.
Meanwhile, the recovery is part of a larger crackdown by Sub Division East in hotspots like Rajeev Nagar, Qasim Nagar etc, which in last 8 months has achieved remarkable results include 31 FIRs registered under the NDPS Act, 1 kg 183 grams of heroin recovered (worth ₹2–3 crore in the international market), 10 kg of ganja seized, 35 accused persons arrested and 220 individuals booked under preventive actions for drug-related activities.
These numbers underline the sustained efforts by Jammu Police to dismantle the deep-rooted drug menace in Rajeev Nagar
The action was executed by SHO Bahu Fort and ICPP Narwal, assisted by PSI Irshad Ahmed, under the supervision of SDPO City East and SP City South Jammu, with overall command and guidance from SSP Jammu.
The source and intended destination of the recovered contraband are being probed, with efforts underway to unearth both backward and forward linkages.
A financial investigation has also been initiated to identify and seize the proceeds of drug trafficking.
A case under FIR No. 279/2025 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort.DD
