Drug peddler arrested in Budgam: Police

Srinagar, Sep 17 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Budgam have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance & cash from his possession.

A Police party of PP Humhama during naka checking, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who on seeing the police party tried to flee from the spot but he was apprehended tactfully, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

He has been identified as Rayees Ahmed Mir son of Gulzar Ahmed Mir resident of Mohanpora Narkara. During search, 02 Sticks of Charas weighing about 58 grams, 01 mobile phone and cash was recovered from his possession, police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 376/2024 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.

People are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood, police said—(KNO)
