Dy CM reviews progress on development projects at Shopian


Directs for expediting completion of all vital projects
SHOPIAN, DD, Highlighting the historical importance of Shopian district, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, today directed for fast pacing the work on development projects with special focus on connectivity and Horticulture sectors.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking during a review meeting held, to assess progress on various developmental projects and schemes being implemented in the district, here at Mini-Secretariat Shopian.
The meeting was attended by MLA Wachi, Showkat Hussain Ganie and MLA Shopian, Shabir Kullay besides HoDs of different departments and sectoral officers.
Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Shishir Gupta, presented detailed overview of developmental scenario and undergoing works in the district.
While reviewing status of projects of Public Works Department (PWD), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Roads and Buildings (R&B) department, JJM and others, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasised the importance of maintaining high quality standards and adhering to project deadlines, expressing concern over delays in certain works. He directed the officials to prioritise the pending projects and ensure their early completion.
The Deputy Chief Minister underscored the significance of timely and quality execution of infrastructure projects. He instructed the officers to strictly adhere to technical specifications and safety standards. He also emphasized the need for sustainable construction practices to benefit the people of the district in the long term.
He asked the officers to expedite developmental initiatives and enhance public service delivery mechanisms. He stressed the importance of being accessible to the public to ensure effective implementation of government initiatives.
“We are committed for accelerating development process and improving infrastructure across the district. The suggestions and feedback of the elected representatives should also be taken into consideration while formulating schemes so that these could contain the local needs and demands “, maintained the Deputy Chief Minister.
Assuring the officers of government’s full support in addressing challenges, if any, the Deputy Chief Minister called for regular monitoring and evaluation of all ongoing works to ensure transparency and accountability.
While expressing concern over delays in certain works, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and execution. He stressed the need to work with added dedication ensuring speedy and quality completion of all ongoing works.
The Deputy Chief Minister had a detailed account of the works in progress, emphasising the need for maintaining high quality standards in all phases of project execution. He directed the officials to ensure strict adherence to deadlines besides addressing any bottlenecks hindering the timely completion of projects.
During the meeting, the officials provided updates regarding the progress on various projects and highlighted challenges, including funding constraints, land acquisition issues and technical difficulties.
Legislators highlighted the issues of public importance concerning their respective areas. The issues inter alia included augmentation of roads under PMGSY and other developmental activities in Zainapora and Shopian, Cardiologist in District Hospital Shopian, beautification of Shopian Town, land compensation under Bye-Pass road constructions and other matters.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the pace of works on the Trenz Bridge being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 39.41 crore.
While interacting with the officers present on site, he directed for early completion of this vital bridge connecting two districts.
The Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing work of the Degree College at Zainpora which is being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 18.84 crore.DD
