DyCM Surinder Choudhary Visits Journalist Arfaz Ahmed Daing’s Demolished House, Narwal

Assurances Action against JDA’s Erring Officers

Jammu:DD, Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary visited the demolished house of journalist Arfaz Ahmed Daing here at Narwal area of Jammu District on Saturday morning.

The DyCM met the affected family members, who were displaced, following the demolition of their house by the Jammu Development Authority two days back.

During his interaction with the victims, the affected family members narrated the incident that has left them homeless and forced the family with elderly parents, and children to spend nights under the sky.

After hearing their grievances, the DyCM assured that an action shall be initiated against the JDA officials, who were responsible for carrying out a ‘biased’ demolition drive.

Expressing his sympathies with the victim families, he clarified to the media persons that Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K, had not been informed about the demolition drive.

“No intimation was given or approval was sought from the Chief Minister,” he clarified, while answering questions raised by the journalists, who had gathered to record the horrifying incident that has rendered the elderly parents, children, and the journalist homeless.

Meanwhile, he assured action from the Govt against the officials, while asking Arfaz Ahmed Daing to file a written complaint to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.

He again said that the Govt is not against the journalists, even if they criticize the Govt.

“We believe in a constructive approach and the journalists have the right to criticize the Govt,” he added.

Besides, a large number of members of civil society, religious, and political leaders continue to visit the aggrieved family members, and extend their support to them.DD
