Kargil, DD: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO), Kargil, continues its dedicated efforts to nurture young sporting talent by conducting the final selection trials for various games, including volleyball, handball, football, archery, and table tennis, following the successful completion of the District Level Inter-Zone Tournaments held earlier this month.
As per the schedule, volleyball and handball final selection trials were held today at two venues — KSC Ground, Bemathang and Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kargil — under the supervision of Zakir Hussain (Volleyball Organizer) and Mr. Javid Iqbal (Handball Organizer), respectively.
The trials were conducted under the overall guidance of Abid Ali, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kargil, who emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities and a fair selection process for all aspiring athletes. Mr. Mohd Hassan (In-charge Activities) provided logistical and technical support to ensure the smooth conduct of the trials.
A large number of talented boys and girls from various educational zones of District Kargil participated in the event, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm, discipline, and sporting spirit.
The final selected players from these trials will proudly represent District Kargil in the upcoming State Level School Games Competitions, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh.
Subsequently, top-performing athletes at the State Level will qualify to represent the Union Territory of Ladakh in the 69th National School Games (SGFI) 2026, a prestigious national platform to showcase young talent from every corner of India.
The DYSSO Kargil remains committed to promoting youth empowerment, physical fitness, and holistic development through sports. By organizing such structured tournaments and trials, the department aims to identify and nurture young sports talent from rural and urban areas, provide equal participation opportunities to both boys and girls and foster discipline, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship among the youth of Kargil.
These initiatives reflect the Department’s broader vision of preparing Ladakh’s youth to excel not only in academics but also in the field of sports and national representation, thereby contributing to the overall development of the region.DD
