Srinagar: DD, A moderate earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Friday evening, with tremors felt across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Weatherman in a statement issued here said, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake occurred at around 5:45 p.m. with its epicenter located at latitude 36.62°N and longitude 72.72°E, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.
As per Kashmir Weather, the tremors were felt in various areas of the Valley, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and offices.
However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. (KNC)
