ECI Sets Nov 11 for Budgam, Nagrota By-Elections, Results on Nov 14

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar: DD, The Election Commission of India has announced that by-elections for the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir will be conducted on November 11, with the counting of votes slated for November 14.

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, made the announcement during a media interaction, where he also unveiled the schedule for the Bihar Assembly polls and other by-elections across the country.

The Budgam constituency went vacant after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah relinquished the seat, choosing instead to retain the Ganderbal segment he also won in last year’s Assembly polls.

Nagrota’s vacancy arose following the death of senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana on October 31 last year, just weeks after the election results were declared in J&K. (KNC)
