Kishtwar, DD, The Department of Horticulture, District Kishtwar, under the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has organized a two-day Exposure Visit for Orchardists and Farmers as part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). The visit, scheduled for March 11th-12th, 2025, will take participants to the Government Fruit Plant Nursery in Marta, Ramnagar, Udhampur.
The initiative aims to educate farmers on advanced horticultural techniques, modern farming practices, and high-yield fruit cultivation methods. By exposing farmers to scientific nursery management, grafting techniques, and improved plant varieties, the program seeks to boost fruit production in Kishtwar and contribute to the district’s economic growth.
Officials from the Horticulture Department emphasized the importance of such exposure visits in bridging the gap between traditional and modern agricultural practices. They highlighted that learning from established nurseries will empower local orchardists with practical knowledge that can be implemented in their own farms.
Local farmers expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, hoping to gain insights into disease-resistant plant varieties, efficient irrigation methods, and organic farming techniques.
The exposure visit aligns with the broader vision of Jammu & Kashmir’s agricultural development strategy, which focuses on enhancing productivity, sustainability, and farmer income.
