Fake Class 12 Results Circulated Online; FIR Lodged, Cyber Police Launch Probe

Srinagar, (DD): In a serious breach of public trust, fake Class 12 board results mimicking the official marksheets of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) were circulated online, triggering widespread confusion among students and anger among parents.

Authorities have lodged an FIR, and the Cyber Police Kashmir Zone has launched an investigation. Interestingly, the issue was initially flagged by a non-Cyber Police unit, underscoring the increasing spread and impact of digital misinformation.

A senior Cyber Police official stated, “Circulation of forged academic records is a criminal act. We are tracing the digital origin of the fake results and strict action will follow.”

The fake marksheets, which appeared highly realistic, were widely shared on messaging platforms and social media, misleading many students who believed them to be authentic.

“My daughter was in tears after seeing the result. She thought she had failed. It’s cruel and irresponsible,” said Rafiqa Bano, a parent from Srinagar.

In response, a JKBOSE spokesperson strongly condemned the act and assured students of timely and transparent result declaration.

“We are aware of the fake Class 12 results being circulated. Students are advised not to fall for such misinformation. The official results will only be published on our official website and communicated through verified channels,” the official said.

The board has urged students, parents, and institutions to remain patient and vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities (DD)
