Srinagar,(DD) National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah today announced that a dedicated Women’s Centre will soon be established in Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that empowering women is crucial for building a stronger and more progressive nation.

Addressing the media, Dr. Abdullah said the time had come to ensure women receive their rightful place in society. “A country cannot move forward if its women are denied equal rights. Women make up half of our population, and unless they are given equal opportunities, true national development is impossible,” he stated.

He urged the Parliament to take immediate steps to ensure the passage of laws that guarantee women their rights. “J&K is the crown of India, and we will lead by example. I have instructed officials to identify land for the Women’s Centre, which will serve as a hub for empowerment, support, and opportunity,” he added.

When asked about criticism from opposition parties in the Legislative Assembly, Dr. Abdullah said, “There will always be detractors, but our focus remains on doing what is right. We are committed to pulling J&K out of its challenges and creating a brighter future for all, especially women.”(DD)
