Srinagar, (DD) In a strong and emotionally resonant message delivered on the solemn occasion of Youm-e-Ashura, National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah extended heartfelt solidarity with the people of Palestine and Iran, urging Muslims across the world to unite for peace and justice.
“We extend our solidarity with the people of Palestine and Iran in the struggles they are facing,” Dr. Abdullah said in a statement that has since drawn attention on social media platforms.
The veteran leader emphasised that Islam is a religion rooted in peace and resistance against injustice. “Muslims should unite for peace, as Islam is a religion that teaches peace and calls for resistance against evil,” he stated.
Drawing a parallel with the timeless message of Karbala, Dr. Abdullah invoked the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) as a moral compass for all Muslims. “Imam Hussain (AS) carried the same message—to stand for justice and peace, and to oppose tyranny. That is the true essence of Karbala,” he said.
The remarks come at a time when tensions in West Asia have escalated, particularly in Gaza and parts of Iran, drawing international concern. Dr. Abdullah’s message has been seen by many as a call for introspection and unity among Muslim communities in the face of growing geopolitical and humanitarian challenges.
The statement was echoed and shared by NC Vice President Omar Abdullah and other senior party leaders through the J&K National Conference’s official communication channels(DD)
