Farooq Abdullah Calls Vande Bharat Express a Game-Changer for Kashmir Tourism and Trade

Srinagar, (DD): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday returned to Srinagar aboard the newly launched Vande Bharat Express after offering prayers at the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.

Speaking to reporters at Srinagar Railway Station on his return from Katra Dr. Abdullah described the journey as “very pleasant,” adding with a smile, “Bohut acha safar raha.”

Pointing toward the crowd of arriving visitors, he remarked, “You can see for yourself—tourists are coming. This train is a great blessing. It will not only boost tourism but also open up new business opportunities for our people.”

Dr. Abdullah highlighted the positive impact on the horticulture sector as well, stating, “Our fruit produce can now reach other parts of India faster, and people from Kashmir can travel with ease across the country. This is a dream I had long cherished, and today, I feel it has come true in my lifetime.”

He also shared that he prayed for peace and prosperity at the Vaishno Devi shrine and expressed gratitude to everyone involved in making the Vande Bharat project a reality.(DD)
