Farooq Abdullah pays tribute to Dr Manmohan Singh for his legacy in rehabilitating Kashmiri Pandits

Srinagar, (TDD): National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, recognizing his instrumental role in the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

Abdullah praised Dr. Singh for his unwavering commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the displaced community and his efforts to pave the way for their return to the Valley.

Speaking to the media, Abdullah highlighted Dr. Singh’s tangible contributions, saying, “If there was anyone who took steps to rehabilitate our Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir, it was Dr. Manmohan Singh.” He reflected on the difficulties faced by the community during the insurgency of the 1990s and lauded Singh’s proactive approach in creating meaningful solutions that offered both hope and practical support for their resettlement.

Abdullah further emphasized Dr. Singh’s pragmatic vision for peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir, noting, “Only those who work are criticized, but Dr. Singh’s work for the Kashmiri Pandits, and his broader initiatives for peace and development, will forever be etched in our memories.” Dr. Singh’s leadership, which focused on creating security, infrastructure, and welfare programs, continues to resonate with many in the region as an important step toward healing and coexistence.

In his tribute, Abdullah also acknowledged Dr. Singh’s larger legacy in Kashmir, pointing out that his efforts were not just aimed at rehabilitating the Pandit community but also at fostering economic growth and addressing the aspirations of all communities in the region. Dr. Singh’s vision of peaceful coexistence and his commitment to resolving historical grievances remain a cornerstone of his lasting impact on the Valley’s future.(TDD)
