Farooq Abdullah Takes Vande Bharat to Katra, Calls It a Game-Changer for J&K Tourism

Srinagar, (DD): In a significant endorsement of the region’s expanding rail connectivity, National Conference (NC) president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today travelled aboard the Vande Bharat Express from Nowgam Railway Station to Katra.

Visibly elated, Dr Abdullah described the train service as a “huge blessing” for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those in the tourism sector.

“This is a huge blessing for us and is going to benefit tourists a lot. It is difficult to travel by road, and prices for air travel are extremely high. This train is going to benefit us a lot,” he said while interacting with journalists onboard.

The Vande Bharat Express, known for its speed, comfort, and efficiency, is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the Valley and major religious and tourist destinations, including the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra.

The NC leader praised the Centre’s initiative in enhancing rail infrastructure in the Union Territory and expressed hope that improved connectivity would lead to greater economic opportunities for locals and a boost in pilgrimage tourism.

This journey by a senior political figure marks a symbolic moment, highlighting growing acceptance and optimism around the transformative infrastructure projects being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.(DD)
