Farooq Abdullah Warns Against Misjudging Iran: “They See This as a Second Karbala”

Srinagar, (DD) National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah has strongly reacted to the recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, cautioning against underestimating Iran’s resolve amid its deepening conflict with Israel.

Speaking in Srinagar, Abdullah said, “If the US and Israel believe Iran will give up its nuclear ambitions, they are mistaken. Iran draws strength from the memory of Karbala — they see this as a second Karbala. They would rather sacrifice their lives than surrender.”

He also criticised Western attempts to orchestrate regime change in Iran. “What good has regime change brought in other countries? The belief that Iran will abandon its nuclear goals after a political shake-up is a dangerous illusion,” he stated.

Abdullah’s remarks reflect growing concerns in the region as global powers continue to clash over Iran’s nuclear development, raising fears of wider instability in the Middle East(DD)
