Srinagar, (TDD): National Conference (NC) leader and Srinagar MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has reiterated that the focus of Jammu and Kashmir’s struggle should remain on the restoration of Article 370, dismissing statehood as an inadequate solution.
Speaking on social media platform X, Ruhullah explained his unyielding stance, stating, “Since 2019, I have been clear. Our fight is for the restoration of Article 370, which represents the dignity and autonomy of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Ruhullah called for collective efforts to reclaim the region’s special status, expressing his readiness to lead a protest in Delhi. “I am willing to participate in such a protest and will work to secure the support of over 100 MPs. January, the month commemorating the adoption of India’s Constitution, would be an apt time for this demonstration,” he said.
The NC leader criticized the abrogation of Article 370, labeling it a deliberate act of humiliation and a move to dismantle the identity of Jammu and Kashmir. “The abrogation was a political message to undermine our sacrifices and dictate our future. Settling for statehood alone would mean accepting a diluted version of our rightful status,” he argued.
Reaffirming his commitment to the cause, Ruhullah called on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to stand united. “Our fight is about preserving our honor, identity, and autonomy. We must not lose sight of these principles,” he said(TDD)
