Katra: DD, An FIR has been filed against eight people for allegedly drinking alcohol inside the premises of Hotel Katra Marriott Resort & Spa, a property in close proximity to the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The incident on March 15th involved guests named Orhan Awatramani (ORRY), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina. Based on the complaint filed by the management of the hotel, these guests were found to be drinking liquor in their cottage suites after they were specifically made aware of the hotel policy that does not allow alcohol and non-vegetarian food in those particular rooms, a policy being followed due to the site’s religious importance as a Hindu pilgrimage center.
The FIR, number 72/25, was filed at Police Station Katra based on the complaint. Taking cognizance of the delicate situation and the propensity to hurt religious sentiments of followers, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh (JKPS) put tough orders in place to arrest the accused. A special unit, working under the guidance of SP Katra, DySP Katra, and SHO Katra, was constituted to inquire into the issue and apprehend the accused violators.
SSP Reasi promoted a zero-tolerance approach toward any behavior dishonoring the sanctity of religious sites, especially one of alcohol or drug consumption. He also added that those who violated the law and tried to instigate disturbance, especially by doing so, will be dealt with sternly as per the laws, highlighting how the authorities value upholding peace and respecting religious feelings of society.DD
