‘Omar chairs joint meeting of NC-Congress, Independent legislators, devise strategy for Assembly session’

Srinagar, (TDD),In a significant development, National Conference has decided to move a motion in the inaugural session of J&K Legislative Assembly commencing tomorrow.
NC insiders told The Diplomat that Rural Development Minister Javaid Dar will move a motion for election of speaker by suggesting senior NC leader and former finance minister Abdur Rahim Rahim for the speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
NC sources said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is also the NC legislature party leader chaired a joint meeting not NC-Congress legislators at Banquet Hall. All the elected MLAs that include 42 of NC, six of Congress and four independent candidates were present on the occasion. The sources said that meeting decided the strategy to be adopted for countering opposition in case it creates ruckus over some issues.
The first day of Legislative Assembly will also witness LG Manoj Sinha’s address at 11:30 am. Pertinent pertinently, earlier today, BJP chose Sunil Sharma as the leader of opposition (LoP) and Sat Sharma as the BJP’s J&K chief. The party also selected Narinder Singh as the BJP candidate for deputy speaker’s post, (TDD)
