Fitness Over Drugs: DIG Central Kashmir inspires youth to lead healthy lives

DD Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Central Kashmir, Rajiv Omprakash Pande, has urged young people to adopt fitness as a way to fight the rising menace of drug abuse in the Valley.

Speaking at an event in Srinagar where he flagged off a cycling expedition from Lal Chowk to Kanyakumari, DIG Pande highlighted the transformative power of physical activity in tackling addiction. The cyclists’ journey, he said, is a testament to promoting health, resilience, and the vision of a cleaner, pollution-free India.

“Drug abuse is a growing concern among our youth, but fitness can be the antidote,” he stated. “Once you begin a fitness journey, harmful habits like drug use naturally fade away. Physical activity not only strengthens the body but also instills discipline and a sense of purpose.”

Pande lauded the cyclists for their inspiring effort, noting how such events encourage young people to channel their energy positively. He also emphasized the role of parents, educators, and communities in motivating the youth to lead healthier lives through activities like cycling, sports, and fitness routines.
