Five-Day Training Programme on Women’s Safety Concludes at SKPA Udhampur

Udhampur :DD, The five-day training programme on “Women’s Safety” for police investigators, sponsored by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, concluded today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur. The programme, which commenced on 10th February 2025, was attended by 23 police officers of various ranks, from Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to Inspector, including three female officers.

The training aimed to enhance investigative skills and familiarize officers with the latest legal provisions, particularly those under the Information Technology (IT) Act. The sessions were conducted by Kavita Suri (University of Jammu), Dr. Vikas Vaibhav (AIIMS Jammu), Riaz Ahmed (Senior Prosecuting Officer, SKPA), Supriya Chouhan (Advocate, High Court of Jammu), Meena Kumari (One Stop Centre, Udhampur), and senior police officers from SKPA, including Inspectors Sandeep Mahajan, Anil Raina, Mehmood Ahmed, Paramjeet Singh, Kuldeep Krishan, and PSI Rakesh Kumar (Cyber Police Station, Jammu).

The valedictory function was presided over by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP SKPA, who served as the Chief Guest. In his address, Gupta emphasized the importance of sensitivity and professionalism in handling women-related cases. He urged investigators to adhere to established guidelines, ensuring thorough and empathetic case handling. The primary objective of the training, he noted, was to strengthen investigative capabilities and foster a victim-centric approach among police officers.

The programme was coordinated by Inspector Vikas Manhas, with ASI Zareena Malik assisting in its smooth execution.DD
