Five Notorious Drug Peddlers Booked Under PIT NDPS Act in Awantipora Crackdown

Awantipora, DD: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing campaign to eradicate the drug menace, Awantipora Police have booked five notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, following formal detention orders issued by the competent authority.

The individuals identified as Mohd Younis Qurashi of Basmani Mohallah Tral, Tawseef Ahmad Rather of Panner Jageer Tral, Umar Noor Mohammad alias Umgolla of Wuyan Khrew, Showket Ahmad Bhat of Nader Tral, and Mohammad Saleem Khan of Handoora Tral have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu, District Jail Udhampur, and District Jail Kathua.

It is pertinent to mention that multiple cases are registered against these individuals, who were actively involved in promoting drug trafficking by supplying narcotics to local youth in Pampore, Tral, and surrounding areas of the police district.

Consistent action by the police against such elements underscores their commitment to eradicating social evils and maintaining a drug-free society.(DD)
