Jammu, (TDD): In a significant development, the Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department has taken disciplinary action against Range Officer Javeed Ahmad Natkhan, suspending him from his duties in the Tangmarg/Gulmarg Range.
The suspension comes in response to serious allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behavior towards the local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
According to sources, the decision to suspend the officer was made under the direct instructions of the Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs Javaid Rana. The Minister’s intervention underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the need for prompt action.
To ensure a thorough investigation, a summary inquiry has been ordered to look into the incident. The Conservator of Forests has been assigned the responsibility of conducting the inquiry and submitting a detailed report within the next two days. The inquiry will determine the nature of the officer’s conduct and whether it violated departmental norms and the expected standards of behavior for public officials.
This incident has raised concerns about the professional conduct of government officials, particularly in their interactions with elected representatives, and is expected to have implications for the broader functioning of the Forest Department.(TDD)
