KATHUA; TDD:- J&K Police Kathua recovered/seized one Load Carrier vehicle(Truck) laden with “Forest Wood” in the jurisdictional area of PS Basohli at Behani – Mahanpur area which were allegedly being smuggled from Behani Mahanpur area and 01 person was arrested alongwith the said vehicle which was seized in this connection.
On 20.12.2024 an information was received at PCP Mahanpur through reliable sources that one vehicle is indulged in the Smuggling/Theft of Banned Wood of Forest Produce, and doing the illegal “Trade of Smuggling” of Wood without any valid document and permission which is loaded in a vehicle ( Truck) bearing Reg. No. HP38D-0226 and proceeding from Behani chowk towards the Mahanpur side.
Following a tip off about the smuggling of forest wood, the police team led by IC PCP Mahanpur under the guidance of SDPO Basohli and SHO P/S Basohli laid a naka and intercepted the said Truck bearing Reg. No. HP38D-0226 which was driven by a person namely 1. Bunty Kumar S/o Balwant Singh R/o Dunera Tehsil & District Pathankot who was indulged in smuggling of different types of Forest Wood. During checking it was found that the said vehicle was laden with forest Wood logs, when asked for any valid permission the accused person could not produce any document related to the sale and purchase of the forest wood and therefore, the recovered Forest wood logs alongwith said vehicle was seized and 01 person was arrested and lateron handed over to Forest Check Post Mahanpur for further legal proceedings.TDD
