Srinagar,(DD): Just a day after the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead, a fierce encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Tangmarg area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
According to officials, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs about the presence of armed militants. As the forces approached the suspected hideout, they came under heavy fire, triggering a gunfight.
“An exchange of fire is underway and reinforcements have been rushed to the area,” an official said, adding that the situation remains tense.
The fresh encounter comes amid heightened security operations across the region in response to the Pahalgam tragedy, which has sparked widespread outrage and demands for decisive action(DD)
