Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD):The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Wednesday issued a weather advisory forecasting widespread rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir, with a high probability of intense to heavy rainfall in several parts of the Jammu Division.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places across the Union Territory on August 6, accompanied by generally cloudy skies. However, districts in the Jammu region including Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, and Kathua may witness intense to heavy downpours, raising concerns about flash floods and related hazards..

From August 7 to 11, the weather is predicted to turn hot and humid, though brief and intense showers may occur at isolated locations during this period.

The MET department further anticipates fresh rainfall spells between August 12 and 15, warning of moderate rain at many places and heavy showers at isolated areas of the Jammu Division.

Advisory Issued

In light of the forecast, the department has issued a cautionary advisory, warning of:

Flash floods in vulnerable and low-lying areas,

Increased risk of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones, particularly along hilly roads and national highways.

Farmers across the region have been advised to continue with their agricultural operations till August 11, after which wet weather could disrupt fieldwork.

Authorities and residents in the affected areas are urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to avoid any weather-related mishaps(DD)
