VIJAYPUR: TDD,Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh today expressed his concern over delay in granting statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing a meeting of the party leaders at village Gurgani in Block Parmandal in Samba District, the Former Minister referred to the growing concerns of the people regarding the unfulfilled promise that was made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir that they would get back their statehood.

“Jammu and Kashmir is a historic state that was ruled by Dogra Maharaja. The people of J&K have built this state with their sacrifices, and if the statehood status is delayed, it would create a feeling of discontent and dissatisfaction among the people,” said S. Manjit Singh.

Expressing his dismay over the developmental activities in Block Parmandal, he said that the area has remained neglected for decades, and the people feel that they were deprived of development because of political reasons as the administration sides with a particular party.

“The administration, and its field departments should have done justice with the people by providing equal developmental opportunities with development, construction of lanes, drains, ensuring the clean drinking water supply, health facilities, approach roads etc.

Earlier, the people complained that the Govt officials do not listen to their grievances even as they highlight their issues before them a number of times.

“The people are told to visit again, and the issues remain unresolved,” he said, while urging for the early restoration of statehood so that the Govt Departments can be made accountable.

The meeting was also attended by the District President of Samba District, Raman Thappa, and other leaders.TDD
