Srinagar, (DD): The Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) has issued a directive to all government and private schools, advising them to avoid organizing student visits to Gulmarg on Saturdays and Sundays due to heavy tourist inflow and safety concerns.
According to the circular, the surge in weekend tourism has resulted in significant traffic congestion and raised safety risks, particularly for student groups. In response, the GDA has instructed schools not to plan educational tours, excursions, or picnics to the area on weekends until further notice.
Moreover, schools must now obtain prior permission at least five working days in advance before scheduling any visit. Requests must be submitted via email (gulmarggda@gmail.com) and approved by the respective Head of Institution or Department.
Each application must include:
Date of visit
Number of students
Details of accompanying staff
Transporter information
Emergency contact number
The GDA has also emphasized the need for proper vehicle parking and maintaining cleanliness in the area before and after the visit. The use of plastic and disposable items during such trips is strictly prohibited. Any violation of the advisory may result in appropriate action by the authorities.(DD)
