CHENANI:TDD,Government Degree College
(GDC) Chenani under the able guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Kumar Gupta organized an Eco-Trek spanning from Karlah to the picturesque Gouri Kund in collaboration with the Wildlife Department.

The event aimed to raise Awareness about environmental conservation, sustainable practices and provide students with hands-on learning experiences in the lap of nature.

The Eco-trek saw enthusiastic participation from the students, NSS volunteers, college faculty and the wildlife department officials. The journey covered a diverse range of flora and fauna of the region. From lush green forests to serene mountain trails, the trek served as a living classroom where participants could observe and learn about the importance of preserving fragile natural resources.

Vijay Kumar, Wildlife Warden Jammu Division delivered an inspiring keynote address at the inaugural of the trek. He emphasized the critical role of students in conserving nature and elaborated on the significance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem. His insights resonate deeply with the participants, setting the tone for a meaningful and educational trek.

Prof. Rajan Bharti (HOD Geography), Dr Preeti Sharma, Dr. Siddhant Bhardwaj and Vanshika played a pivotal role in ensuring the trek’s success. Their expertise in navigating challenging terrain and sharing in-depth knowledge about the local flora and fauna enriched the experience. They along with the officials of the wildlife department conducted interactive sessions on wildlife protection, the man-environment relationship and pointed out burning issues related to climate change and its impact on the ecology.

This event was an eye-opener for many of us. The guidance and support from Mahesh Abrol, Range Officer and Babu Ram, Block Officer Wildlife Sudhmahadev made it an enriching experience for all of us.TDD
