Girl Dies, Father Injured as Gusty Winds Uproot Tree in Keller, Shopian

Shopian,(DD): A tragic incident unfolded in the Keller area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday evening when strong gusty winds caused a tree to collapse onto a tent, resulting in the death of a young girl and injuries to her father.

According to officials, the incident occurred in the forest area of Gadder Chowan, where an alpine tree was uprooted by strong winds and fell on a temporary tent shelter.

The girl, identified as Soby Riyaz, daughter of Riyaz Ahmad Bakerwal, died on the spot, while her father sustained injuries in the mishap.

Local authorities have taken note of the incident and are assessing the situation.

It is worth mentioning that several parts of Kashmir experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds on Sunday evening, leading to property damage and widespread power outages.(DD)
