GOC Tiger Division Flags Off Cycling Expedition To Border Villages

Jammu,TDD,Upholding the traditions of Indian Army in fostering the spirit of adventure, teamwork, leadership through high-risk activities in inhospitable terrain to prepare for challenging tasks, Tiger Division organised a 12-member Cycle Expedition for 28 days from Chandigarh to Manali, Himachal Pradesh, via Shipki La pass which is at 13,420ft.

The Expedition will cover a total distance of 1192 Kms in a span of 28 days. The Expedition was flagged off by Major General Mukesh Bhanwala, General Officer Commanding, 26 Infantry Division, Jammu on 25 Sep 2024.

The Expedition primarily aims to showcase the robust and indomitable spirit of the Indian Army to face the challenging extremes of the weather and terrain in high altitude areas as also to reach out to the countrymen residing in the border areas of the nation. It will cover a total of 42 villages including 10 vibrant first villages as declared by the Government of India and Himachal Pradesh Government.

Enroute the expedition the team will interact with the ESM’s, Veer Naris and the gallantry awarded soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. Moreover, the team will motivate the youth of the villages to join the Indian Armed Forces through various entry schemes as Officers and as Soldiers through Agnipath Scheme. The team will also spread awareness on the various schemes for Girl students to join the military schools, NDA, OTA in support of the nation’s Women Empowerment drive.

The Expedition team will also interact with the various Civil Administration Officials and local village representatives to strengthen the bonding between the Armed Forces and the Civil populace and to showcase the untiring efforts of the Armed Forces in National Integration.TDD
