Govt Assures Early Departmental Exams for Junior KAS Officers

Diplomat Correspondent

JAMMU,DD:Jammu & Kashmir, March 13, 2025: The Government has assured Junior KAS officers of the 2018 and 2019 batches that necessary steps are being taken to address their concerns regarding quasi-permanent status and departmental examinations.

In response to a query raised by Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Jan (A.Q. No. 1097) in the Legislative Assembly, the Government clarified:

(a) The 2018 and 2019 batches of Junior KAS officers have not yet been declared quasi-permanent despite completing five years of service due to administrative reasons. However, the Government is actively working on resolving the matter.

(b) Rule 16 of SRO-386 mandates the conduct of departmental exams within two years of service. However, no such exams have been held for the 2018-2024 batches due to delays in syllabus updation. The Government acknowledged the issue and assured that the process for conducting the exams is being expedited.

Expressing satisfaction with the Government’s response, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Jan emphasized the need for swift action to ensure the career progression of officers. The Hon’ble Chief Minister also reaffirmed the commitment to holding the examinations as soon as possible.

The Government remains committed to resolving the concerns of Junior KAS officers and ensuring a transparent and efficient examination process. DD
