Srinagar, (DD): With temperatures rising sharply across the Kashmir Valley, the government is actively reviewing the possibility of announcing early summer vacations for schoolchildren.
Education and Health Minister Sakina Itoo said on Wednesday that the School Education Department is closely monitoring the ongoing heatwave and will take a final decision based on how the situation unfolds.
“The heatwave has just begun and it’s only been two days,” she told reporters in Srinagar. “However, if it continues, we will not hesitate to declare an early summer break in the interest of students’ health and well-being.”
On a separate note, the minister highlighted Kashmir’s appeal as a top travel destination. “Tourism in Kashmir is thriving, and we welcome more tourists to come and experience the beauty of our region,” she said.
Itoo also confirmed that the committee tasked with examining reservation policies has finalized its report. “The report will soon be placed before the Cabinet for discussion,” she added(DD)
