Hotels and resorts in the picturesque town of Kashmir are fully booked, with tourists from across the country flocking to celebrate the arrival of the New Year amid the winter wonderland.
Gulmarg, famous for its skiing, gondola rides, and breathtaking views, has long been a favored winter destination. This year, the fresh snowfall and festive spirit have further boosted its popularity, making it a prime spot for holidaymakers looking for a unique New Year celebration.
Hoteliers and tourism officials confirmed the 100 percent occupancy across accommodations, including luxury hotels, mid-range stays and homestays.
“We have been witnessing a record influx of tourists since Christmas, and for New Year’s Eve, we are completely sold out,” said Shahid Mir, manager of a local luxury resort. “The demand this year has been overwhelming, and we’re excited to welcome so many visitors to Gulmarg for a memorable New Year celebration.”
Zahra Khan, owner of a popular homestay in the area, shared her excitement: “Gulmarg is in high demand this season. All rooms have been booked well in advance, and we’re seeing more tourists every year. The snowfall has been great, and this year promises to be special for everyone visiting.”
Tourists are enthusiastic about celebrating the occasion amid snowy vistas, with many enjoying skiing, snowboarding, and bonfires. Authorities have ensured security and crowd management to cater to the heavy footfall while maintaining the charm of the destination.
“We are thrilled to see so many people coming to Gulmarg to experience the winter magic. It’s a testament to the growing appeal of Kashmir as a winter destination,” said Bilal Ahmad, a local hotelier.
