Handwara, July 28, 2025,DD:Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of narcotics and curb illegal cultivation of contraband substances, Handwara Police today conducted a bung (cannabis) destruction drive at Unisoo area of Handwara .During the drive, a large stretch of illegally cultivated bung was identified and destroyed on the spot.
The operation witnessed active participation from the Excise Department, Numberdars, and local citizens who extended their full cooperation to the police in this collective effort against drug abuse and its harmful impact on society.The drive was carried out under the supervision of senior officers of Handwara Police.
Local community members were also sensitized about the ill effects of drug addiction and the legal consequences of cultivating narcotic plants.Handwara Police reiterates its commitment to a drug-free society and appeals to the general public to report any instances of illegal cultivation or drug-related activities in their areas.
