Handwara:DD, Continuing its outreach efforts aimed at strengthening police-public relations, Handwara Police today organized a Lok Darbar at Haji Behram School Wahipora.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of respectable citizens from various villages, including Numberdars, Chowkidars, Panchayat representatives, senior citizens, youth, members of the traders federation, and the drivers association.
The programme was graced by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Handwara, Mushtaq Ahmad Chowdhary-JKPS, along with other senior officers of Handwara Police. The presence of the officers was warmly welcomed and highly appreciated by the participants.
During the interactive session, various public issues of local importance were raised, including concerns related to law and order, drug abuse, road safety, and other civic matters.
The SSP and his team gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured the gathering that genuine issues would be taken up with concerned departments for prompt redressal through proper coordination.
In his address, SSP Handwara emphasized the pivotal role of community participation in effective policing and urged citizens to extend full cooperation to the police in maintaining peace, harmony, and public order.
He also elaborated on the measures being undertaken by Handwara Police to combat the menace of drug abuse, and encouraged the community to assist the police by reporting any such unlawful activities.
The participants expressed their appreciation for the people-friendly and proactive policing approach adopted by the Handwara Police and lauded the department’s continuous efforts to connect with the community at the grassroots level.
