Srinagar, (DD): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather forecast warning of possible intense to heavy rainfall in several areas of the Jammu Division starting late Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday, 6 August.
According to the forecast, the weather across Jammu and Kashmir on 5 August is expected to remain hot and humid, with light to moderate rain or thundershowers likely at many places. However, districts such as Rajouri, Reasi, Udhampur, Jammu, and Kathua may experience intense showers or heavy rainfall, particularly during late night and early morning hours.
The outlook for 6–10 August indicates generally hot and humid weather, with the possibility of brief and intense showers at isolated locations.
A fresh spell of rainfall is expected during 11–13 August, with light to moderate rain/thundershowers predicted across many parts of the Union Territory. Isolated locations in the Jammu Division may witness heavy rainfall during this period.
Advisory Issued:
The MET department has cautioned about the risk of flash floods in vulnerable areas, along with potential incidents of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones—particularly in hilly and landslide-prone regions of Jammu Division.
Authorities and the public have been urged to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas during periods of intense rainfall.
