Ramban: Vehicular traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway has been halted following heavy snowfall across the tunnel section connecting Ramban in Jammu with Qazigund in Kashmir.
Reports said that Qazigund received heavy snowfall, making the highway unsafe for vehicular movement. As a precautionary measure, traffic has been suspended from both sides of the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway.
According to reports, traffic was stopped last night at Udhampur district, and commuters were not allowed to proceed on the highway. Authorities said that vehicular movement will be restored only after weather conditions improve and the road is declared safe.
Meanwhile, at least 25 flights were cancelled as weather conditions in Srinagar turned adverse and visibility was not suitable for flight operations. Consequently, 25 scheduled flights were cancelled by the authorities due to poor weather.
People have been advised to follow the weather advisory and avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.DD
