High Court of J&K and Ladakh Grants Interim Relief to Petitioner

Jammu:DD, In a significant development, the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu has granted interim relief in the case filed by Javed Iqbal Zaragar against the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes and others in penalty recovery of more than 80 lakh s

The court, comprising Chief Justice Tashi Rabstan and Hon’ble Justice MA Chowdhary, passed the order on March 26, 2025. The petitioner was represented by Advocate Ahtsham Hussain with Tafheem Qousar.

As per the court order, the impugned recovery order dated October 24, 2024, will remain stayed, provided the petitioner deposits 30% of the penalty during the notice period. This relief is subject to any objections raised by the opposing party.

This decision is seen as an important interim relief for the petitioner, ensuring a stay on the recovery proceedings until further notice from the court.DD
