High Security Alert in Jammu & Kashmir After Pakistan Terror Attacks

Authorities tighten vigilance amid fears of retaliatory strikes

Diplomat Correspondent

Srinagar,(DD): A high-security alert has been sounded across Jammu and Kashmir following recent terror attacks in Pakistan, including the killing of top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Zia-ur-Rehman. Security agencies fear potential retaliatory strikes in the region and have intensified surveillance, patrolling, and search operations.

Officials have instructed all security forces to remain on high alert, especially in vulnerable areas and around vital installations. Security checkpoints have been strengthened, and strict movement restrictions have been placed in sensitive zones. Sources suggest that intelligence agencies are closely monitoring cross-border communication channels to detect any suspicious activities.

Political leaders, government officials, and other protected individuals have been advised to adhere strictly to security protocols. The security forces are particularly wary of soft targets such as religious sites, public gatherings, and transportation hubs, which have historically been used by militants to instill fear.

The heightened alert follows a series of attacks in Pakistan, including incidents in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the elimination of Zia-ur-Rehman, who was allegedly involved in the Rajouri civilian killings in January 2023 and the Reasi pilgrim attack in June 2024. Security experts believe these events could trigger a backlash from terrorist groups operating in the region.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security forces. With ongoing developments, the situation remains fluid, and security measures are expected to remain stringent in the coming days.(DD)
