Srinagar, (DD) A houseboat was gutted in a fire on the Jhelum river near Abdullah Bridge in Srinagar during the early hours of Wednesday.
Officials said the houseboat, owned by MD Yousuf, caught fire at around 4 a.m. Though the blaze damaged the vessel, no loss of life was reported.
Local residents, along with authorities, acted swiftly to contain the flames, preventing further damage and casualties.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and an investigation is underway, officials added(DD)
