Ice Hockey: Trials for Khelo India Winter Games Begin in Leh

Leh: The UT Ladakh team selection trials for the Khelo India Winter Games were conducted at the NDS Ice Hockey Stadium, Leh.
The ice hockey selection trials for the UT Ladakh team were held for both men’s and women’s categories. The Leh District trials took place on 13 January 2026, while the Kargil District trials were conducted earlier on 11 January 2026 at KSC Sports Stadium Bemathang Kargil by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh.

The Khelo India Winter Games event is being organised through a collaborative effort of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sports Authority of India (SAI), UT Administration of Ladakh, and the Department of Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh.

UT Ladakh has been hosting the Khelo India Winter Games since 2024. The event is scheduled to be held from 20 to 26 January 2026. Multiple venues across Leh will be utilised during the games, including NDS Ice Hockey Stadium, Ladakh Scouts Ice Rink, ITBP Ice rink, and Gupuks pond.

In addition to ice hockey, competitions will include speed skating (both short-track and long-track). Notably, figure skating has been included for the first time as a competitive event in the Khelo India Winter Games being held in Leh.DD
