IGNOU Launches Over 60 New Programmes Including FYUPs and Specialized Postgraduate Courses

Srinagar: DD, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the last date for fresh admissions and re-registration for the July 2025 academic cycle to 31st July 2025, in view of requests from various stakeholders and to accommodate prospective learners who were unable to complete admission formalities earlier.
The University has announced that admissions are open for a wide range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Certificate, Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma programmes offered in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) as well as Online mode.
Interested candidates may apply through the official admission portal https://ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in after creating a User ID and Password and ensuring availability of an active mobile number, email ID, scanned academic documents, photograph, and online payment facility.
It is mandatory for all applicants to generate their DEB ID prior to initiating the admission process. Detailed guidelines for DEB ID creation can be accessed at https://www.ignou.ac.in/viewFile/SRD/notification/DEBIDCreation.pdf.
IGNOU has also announced the launch of nearly 60 new programmes, including Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUPs) in disciplines such as Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and Facilities & Service Management.
In the postgraduate domain, newly launched programmes include M.Sc. Geography, Geo-Informatics, Applied Statistics, Renewable Energy, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, and M.A. in Corporate Social Responsibility, Urban Studies, Population and Family Health Studies, Journalism and Digital Media, Applied Urdu, Arabic, Russian, and French, among others. A new MBA in Health Care and Hospital Management has also been introduced.
Highlighting IGNOU’s ongoing efforts to provide accessible and flexible higher education to students across the Kashmir Division and the Union Territory of Ladakh, Regional Director Dr. A.H. Rizvi has said “aspiring students should avail the extended deadline and secure admission to the programme of their choice well before the closing date”.
He also cautioned prospective learners against fraudulent individuals or agencies who may solicit payment through unofficial channels such as QR codes, WhatsApp, or social media platforms, and also said that IGNOU does not collect admission fees through any platform other than the University’s official portals.
In a significant step toward promoting inclusivity, IGNOU continues to offer 50% fee concession for SC/ST students in select undergraduate programmes, Bachelor of Arts (BAM), Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMF), and Bachelor of Science (BSCM).
Further, the last date for Re-registration for all ongoing programmes under ODL and Online mode for the July 2025 session has also been extended to 31st July 2025. All enrolled learners in their 2nd or 3rd year are advised to complete the re-registration process in time to avoid last-minute inconvenience.DD
