Srinagar,(DD) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, on Saturday said that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place for the upcoming Kheer Bhawani Mela, scheduled to take place on June 3.

Addressing reporters, the IGP stated that a large number of devotees from across the Kashmir Valley are expected to attend the annual religious event. To ensure a safe and hassle-free experience, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with paramilitary forces and traffic management teams, has made all necessary arrangements.

“Our top priority is the safety and comfort of the devotees. Every precaution is being taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the mela,” Birdi said.

In response to concerns triggered by the recent Pahalgam attack, the IGP reassured that robust security measures are a routine part of preparations for major pilgrimages, including the Amarnath Yatra, which is set to commence from July 3 this year.

“Strict security protocols were implemented last year, and similar measures are being enforced this year as well to ensure a peaceful and secure atmosphere,” he added(DD)
