Srinagar, (DD): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Shri V.K. Birdi, chaired a high-level joint security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR), Kashmir. The session brought together senior officers from the Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, and intelligence agencies to evaluate and enhance security measures in preparation for an upcoming VVIP visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Among those present were IG BSF, IG CRPF (KOS), IG CRPF Srinagar, DIG CKR Srinagar, DIG ITBP, SSPs from PCR Kashmir, Srinagar, Budgam, Traffic Rural, Traffic City Srinagar, and Security Kashmir, along with representatives from CID, CIK, APCR, and Telecommunications. Col GS (IS) 15 Corps also participated. Senior officers including DIGs from North and South Kashmir Ranges and all Kashmir Zone district SSPs joined the meeting virtually.
Detailed presentations were made regarding the proposed security arrangements. IGP Birdi underscored the need for heightened vigilance and robust preventive measures against any potential threats. He directed officers to intensify intelligence gathering, enhance area domination (particularly at night), and secure vulnerable points and vital installations.
The deployment of Counter-Insurgency Quick Reaction Teams (CI QRTs) and increased patrolling in both urban and rural areas were discussed. The IGP stressed briefing field pers nnel on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintaining strict surveillance at entry and exit points.
All participating officers reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the outlined strategies in a coordinated and precise manner. IGP Birdi concluded by emphasising the shared responsibility of all agencies in ensuring the safety and security of the VVIP, residents, and visitors across the Valley.(DD)
